Experts recommend attaching importance to the introduction of exogenous technology in the EU

"In the future, we should pay more attention to the introduction of exogenous technology in the EU and further improve the quality of technology introduction. The current trade in high-tech products has become the main growth point of China-EU trade, and there is room for further expansion of Sino-European trade in the future." The characteristics of the technical composition, researcher Jin Bosheng, director of the Foreign Investment Research Department of the Ministry of Commerce, made the above statement.

The reporter learned from the Ministry of Commerce that in 2006, China registered a total of 10,538 technology import contracts, with a total contract value of US$22.02 billion, a year-on-year increase of 15.6%, of which the technical fee was US$14.76 billion, accounting for 67.0% of the total contract value. This is after China's technology introduction has reached a record high since 2005, and the EU has become the largest source of technology introduction in China.

The first major industry leader in technology introduction

Statistics from the Ministry of Commerce show that among the total amount of technology import contracts in the country, the amount of technology introduced by foreign-funded enterprises was US$11.30 billion, a year-on-year increase of 36.7%, accounting for 51.3% of the total national technology imports; the total value of state-owned enterprises was US$8.99 billion. There is a decline, accounting for 40.8% of the total national technology imports.

According to the industry, in the national technology import contract, the electronics and communication equipment manufacturing industry, the railway transportation industry and the transportation equipment manufacturing industry are the key areas for technology introduction.

In 2006, the introduction of technology in the electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry continued to maintain rapid growth. The industry introduced a total of 1,559 technologies with a contractual value of US$4.15 billion, a year-on-year increase of 97.3%, accounting for 18.9% of the total national technology import contracts, exceeding the railway transportation industry. Re-emerged as the largest industry in technology introduction.

Sino-European high-tech products trade space is large

In 2006, the turnover of China's proprietary technology licensing contracts was 7.28 billion US dollars, up 42.8% year-on-year, accounting for 33.0% of the total contract value; technical consulting, technical services and joint venture and cooperative production contracts containing technology introduction content accounted for the amount of technology introduction. 23.5% and 19.5%.

At the same time, the EU and China signed 2,597 technology import contracts with a contractual value of US$8.66 billion, accounting for 39.3% of the total amount of technology import contracts, making it the largest source of technology introduction in China. Japan and the United States ranked second and third, with an introduction amount of 5.24 billion and 4.23 billion US dollars respectively, accounting for 23.8% and 19.2% of the total amount of technology import contracts.

According to Jin Bosheng, in recent years, the EU has continued to maintain its status as the country's largest source of technology. In China's introduction of technology from the EU, the proportion of technology costs is increasing. The quantity, quality and proportion of technology imports from the EU are increasing year by year. Structural adjustments and technological upgrades have played a very important role. At the same time, from the perspective of the complementarity of trade structure, the quality and structure of investment, and the quality and level of technology introduction, the quality and efficiency of China-EU economic and trade relations are also higher than China's level to the United States and Japan. China's exports of high-tech products to the EU are mainly medium and low-end mechanical and electrical products. Jin Bosheng believes that in the current Sino-European import and export trade, the proportion of high-tech products has exceeded 30%, becoming the main growth point of bilateral trade, and the growth rate of imports and exports. Both are higher than other countries and regions. Therefore, there is still room for further expansion of Sino-European trade in the future.
